What you’ll be doing:

• Create memorable locations with strong storytelling elements to provide the best player experience possible
• Understand the game design documents and its objectives, story, narrative intention, atmospheres, and style to create stellar game levels
• Understand and respect the artistic direction, consult, and find visual references pertinent to the level and insure artistic consistency
• Ability to use the project tools and their functions, the process to update engine data and follow the project file classification system
• Identify texturing and modeling needs and collaborate with modellers for asset creation
• Work with the lead artist to evaluate the workload and time estimates to produce the level while identifying priorities and meeting deadlines
• Act as a resource person for the artistic team for the map and level by answering questions and communicating with artists regarding changes or technical constraints
• Assemble objects and textures in the level while respecting the artistic direction and gameplay elements
• Collaborate with different departments and closely with the level design team to ensure the level reaches narrative and artistic goals
• Create 3D assets respecting the game design and artistic intention
• Share knowledge and best practice to the rest of the team and act as a mentor to the artistic team
• Support the lead artist with training, documentation, and presentations
• Work on optimization and debugging to fix the issues raised by testers
• Respect production and optimization pipeline
• Any other related task

What we’re looking for:

• At least 8 years of experience in working in the games industry on at least one AAA title with a portfolio reflecting your artistic and technical skills
• Demonstrated creativity and a keen eye for details
• Great sense of scale, proportion, and image composition and ability to work within an established art style
• Great skills in modelling for hard surface and organic
• Knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply physically based rendering (PBR).
• Knowledge of Unreal engine
• Great technical knowledge of 3D packages and texturing packages
• Proficiency in Substance Designer and Painter
• Knowledge of terrain generation software Gaea, an asset
• Understanding and experience with optimization
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team
• Originality and resourcefulness in problem-solving for the art team
• Great knowledge of the workflows to create an asset from the blockout stage to final quality, and optimization
• Ability to receive and give feedback and guidance to the rest of the team
• Passion for games!
